SENSOR.INO / Workshop

SENSOR.INO is an Arduino workshop for electronic music producers, musicians but also for media artists, makers and enthusiasts who want to explore the possibilities of environmental sensors in their creative workflow. Participants will be introduced to the world of analog sensors and will build a MIDI controller which will help them connect the physical world to their favorite music making instrument or software.

This one-day workshop focuses on the use of various environmental sensors such as light, temperature, humidity etc.. and how to translate their values to MIDI messages: the most used communication protocol within electronic music instruments. Each participant will be provided with all the necessary materials for building their interface (sensors, arduino, board..) and by the end of the day they’ll bring home a working prototype, ready to make music or experiment with.
- we strongly recommend bringing a MIDI equipped music instrument with you like small synth or drum machine (namely korg volca or similar… best with builtin speaker) so you can try your build on the fly.

The workshop will be held in English at Vašulka Kitchen Brno and will be led by sound artist Stefano Manconi.
