Katrin Hochschuh & Adam Donovan: CURIOUS TAUTOPHONE – TENSOR FIELD ONTOLOGY

This robotic installation with responsive projection is as much an apparatus of art as it is a tool for music and an instrument of psychology and physics. Tautophone is a reference to the projective “auditory Rorschach” tests developed by psychologists Skinner, Rosenzweig, and Shakow in the 1930s and 1940s, while Curious here refers to the robot's motivation to explore its surroundings and to learn.

Violin Power reloaded

Gaby Wijers

Olivia Brum (Researcher and Graduate Intern), Mauricio van der Maesen de Sombreff (Technical Researcher), Eléonore Bernard (Freelance Media Conservator) and Gaby Wijers (Director at LIMA) investigated the conceptual and technical developments of the work Violin Power by Steina to determine the future presentations especially for REBOOT, pioneering Digital Art 7 October, 2023 - 12 May 2024. The research took place in collaboration with STEIM and Vasulka Kitchen. In addition, Jean Marie Dallet, Ars Electronica, ZKM, Joey Heinen and Tom Demeyer, among others, provided input. The preliminary research result was discussed online and supplemented by an international online roundtable with experts and stakeholders. On this basis, proposals for the future exhibition of the work and a detailed report were written and executed in REBOOT and the documentary LI-MA made for this exhibition. At Vasulka Reloaded Gaby Wijers will present the research and documentary.
