Katrin Hochschuh & Adam Donovan: CURIOUS TAUTOPHONE – TENSOR FIELD ONTOLOGY

This robotic installation with responsive projection is as much an apparatus of art as it is a tool for music and an instrument of psychology and physics. Tautophone is a reference to the projective “auditory Rorschach” tests developed by psychologists Skinner, Rosenzweig, and Shakow in the 1930s and 1940s, while Curious here refers to the robot's motivation to explore its surroundings and to learn.

LUIGI TAMAGNINI: Modular Livecoding. Algorithmic control of modular synthesizers w/ Supercollider

Two-day afternoon workshop for public

Vasulka Kitchen Brno is honoured to host a two-day afternoon workshop by Argentinian composer and computer artist, who will focus on live coding and the use of the Supercollider language.

The workshop will show you how to write simple code in Supercollider and to control a modular eurorack synthesizer. You will learn how to implement algorithms in this very powerful open-source language. Such generated signals may then be used to write code for real-time performance, and thus so-called "live coding".

Sound design with modular analog systems dates back to the 60's and the experimental processes that motivated the origin of the synthesizer industry. At the same time, the development of computers and algorithmic thinking itself gave rise to a whole series of languages and techniques that we know today as part of what we call "computer music".

How to prepare and what to bring?

· Requires no prior knowledge of participants beyond basic concepts of digital audio and computer administration.

· No special preparation is required.

· Participants may bring a computer, but it is not required.

· Workshop is free.

· RSVP by filling in this form: https://forms.office.com/e/6MVcb9VXYw

LUIGI TAMAGNINI is a composer and computer artist from Argentina. He uses programming languages to develop and build hybrid performance systems that combine live coded algorithms with analog devices and computer-generated graphics. His audiovisual pieces push the viewer into a deep abstract volumetric aural and visual experience. He has performed in festivals and concerts in Argentina, Spain, Germany, France and Netherlands.
